FTC Seeks to Block Microsoft-Activision Deal Once Again

Игровая индустрия
The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) lost a lawsuit against Microsoft a few months ago, as a result of which the Redmond giant may complete its deal with Activision Blizzard in the US, but the FTC has not yet said its last word. Early next month, Microsoft could officially end its long-running battle and absorb Activision Blizzard. The situation is interesting because the US Federal Trade Commission has decided to remind of its existence, and the FTC wants to once again try to block the deal. In July, the FTC temporarily withdrew its internal 'adjudication proceedings' against Microsoft's purchase of Activision Blizzard, but has now decided to return. Microsoft has not yet responded to this news, but Activision spokeswoman Lulu Cheng Meservey confirmed that, despite the FTC's actions, the corporations want to continue working to complete the deal. Microsoft and Activision Blizzard may be finalizing their deal in just a few days, but the FTC's filing of yet another lawsuit could pit its lawyers against the Federal Trade Commission in court in the future. It should be noted, however, that the FTC's internal lawsuit cannot directly block the deal – officials needed help from the federal court, but did not receive adequate support. However, in the future, the FTC may fight to overturn a completed merger or sell part of the corporation to another entity.
