Intel Facing Class Action Lawsuit Over Downfall Vulnerability

Новости технологий

Buyers of Intel processors have filed a class action lawsuit alleging that Intel knowingly sold billions of processors with the Downfall vulnerability (INTEL-SA-00828). The vulnerability, exploited through AVX2 and AVX-512 instructions, is known as Gather Data Sampling (GDS). Plaintiffs claim that Intel has been aware of this flaw since 2018, and the patch to fix it significantly slows down processors. The Downfall vulnerability affected Intel processors from the 6th to the 11th generations, potentially reaching billions of chips.
