The drives utilize power-enhanced perpendicular magnetic recording (ePMR) technology, offering the highest capacity hard drives on the market. With OptiNAND integration, Western Digital aims for powerful and efficient operation. The HC580 drive is 12% more energy-efficient per TB compared to its predecessor. The Ultrastar DC HC680 SMR 28TB hard drive provides maximum storage density for hyperscale, cloud, and enterprise customers. Western Digital also supplies the channel with its hard drive WD Gold CMR SATA 24TB, designed for systems integrators and resellers serving small and medium-sized businesses. The Ultrastar DC HC580 24TB CMR drive represents the next leap in data density, allowing data center customers to maximize storage capacity. Western Digital Gold 24TB is already in supply channels, while Ultrastar DC HC680 and HC580 are currently experimental and available for enterprise use.
